On Eagles' Wings
November 15, 2006
Vol. 4, #13
From the Principal

Dear Parents,

I want to wish all of our school families a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving. May this be a time for your family to praise our Father in heaven for the many blessings He has given each of you. I am thankful for all of our students, parents, and teachers. You all make this school a true blessing to me.

This Thursday, we will be putting a new roof on the west wing of the school (grades 3-8). This is to fix the leaking we have had the last couple of years. Due to this project, Parent Teacher Conferences for Grades 3-8 will be held in alternate locations. The locations are listed below and will be posted by the school office. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your adjustment.

Bob Hauch is completing his radiation and chemotherapy treatments this week. By the grace of God, he has been able to continue his teaching schedule and other duties throughout his treatment period. Mr. Hauch has been a true inspiration in how he has continued to dedicate himself to his ministry in spite of his health challenges. Please continue to keep him in your prayers as he confronts his cancer. Lydia Schroeder continues to recover from her injuries, and is planning to return to teaching sometime after Thanksgiving. Please keep her healing process in your prayers as well.

In Christ,
Joel D. Wahlers
Principal

  6. APT Get On Track: We want to thank all of you again for supporting this APT fundraiser this year. We collected almost $20,000 in donations! We want to thank Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for their partnership in supporting our effort to raise funds for the school and a variety of charities. Thrivent matched 50 cents on the dollar up to $5,000. Thrivent has been a tremendous partner to our school and community for many years. The following are the charities supported this year:

  8. Lost & Found: The lost and found outside of room 10 is beginning to grow!! Please check and make sure your child is not missing any jackets, sweaters, etc. Please make every effort to put your child's name on their clothing items. We will do everything possible to return it, but if there is no name we have no idea who it goes to.
  9. St. John's Lutheran Church Commemorative Ornament: St. John's Church is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2007 and will be publishing a Commemorative Book next year. In order to help defray the cost of the book, we are presently selling a commemorative gold-plated brass ornament with an etching of the church. The ornaments are available for $15 in the School or Church Offices. There are a limited number of ornaments available, and when they're gone, they're gone. We will not be re-ordering.
