Dear Parents,

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. I pray it is a good weekend of rest and a chance to spend time with family. May we all take some time to remember all those who have sacrificed for our country with their service and lives.

The school calendar has been set for next year. School will begin on August 24 and be dismissed on June 9. One significant change I want everyone to be aware of is that our Spring Break will be March 20-24, and not the week after Easter as it has been in the past. This is due to how late Easter is next year (April 16) and a desire to help the many families who have students in our school and Napa Valley Unified, which will have Spring Break March 20-24 as well. We will have the Monday after Easter off to extend that weekend. Christmas Break will be December 17 through January 2. If you have other questions regarding calendar, please contact the school office. An official calendar will be sent out in a summer mailing.

Please take some time to fill out the Hot Lunch Survey attached to this week's newsletter! Please return the survey by Friday, June 3rd.

1. Comprehensive Fees: Comprehensive fees are due no later than June 1st. The fee per students for K-8 is $295.00 and PS is $130.00. May is the final month for tuition for the 2004-2005 school year. Tuition payments will resume on August 1st.
2. LSAA Track Meet: The official results are in, and for the third year in a row St. John's has won first place in the annual Bay Area Lutheran Schools Track Meet. We congratulate all our participants on a great team effort. Congratulations also to our Kindergarten team for their 4th place finish in the Kindergarten Meet. What a great way to end the year!
3. Sports Awards: Our annual Sports Awards Presentation will be held on Monday evening, June 6th, at 7:00 pm in the church. We'll be giving certificates and ribbons to students who participated in volleyball, basketball, and track, as well as hand out National and Presidential Physical Fitness Testing Awards. We'll finish up by 8:30 pm, at the latest. Students unable to attend will be given their awards in school on Tuesday.
4. St. John's Basketball Camps: The Boys' Camp (June 20-24) is full, but you are welcome to put your name on a waiting list. Spaces are still available in the Girls' Camp (June 27-July 1) until June 1st. Forms are available in the school office or from Coach Hauch.
5. Vacation Bible School: St. John's vacation bible school (for children entering kindergarten thru 6th grade) is scheduled for July 18-22. Mark it on your calendars and plan on joining us for the wildest VBS ever as we go on a Prayer Safari! Registration and volunteer forms are attached to this note. 6. Summer Camp: There are still a few openings in our two summer camps, Preschool & K-4. Stop by the school office and pick up your application. There is a $50 application fee. Tuition is due in full by May 27th.
7. PALS: PALS billing for the months of March & April are now due. Please be sure to pay your bill in full in the school office. Please do not combine your Comprehensive fee and PALS payments.
8. Tutoring: Are you looking for some tutoring this summer in a Home School environment? St. John's member and parent, Jeanette Russell, will be tutoring this summer for grades PK-3rd. She is currently an Instructional Assistant and has great references. Please call her at 254-8050 if you are interested.
9. High School Grad Night: High School Grad Night is looking for volunteers for the evening of June 2nd. If you would be able to help, please contact Karry Patrakis at 738-6325.
10. Yearbook: There will be a supplemental issue to our yearbook, which will focus on the Track Meet, Country Fair, Confirmation, and Graduation. If you have pictures covering these events, please bring them into the school office ASAP. This new addition will be available at the beginning of the school year.
11. Napa Engineering Camps: Kids ages 5-9 will have an opportunity to build that really great LEGO project with guidance and assistance from a highly qualified staff. These camps are fun, challenging, hands-on, and minds-on. Pre-Engineering is for ages 5-6 the week of August 1-5 from 9:00 am – 12:15. Engineering FUNdamentals is for ages 7-9 from 1:00 pm-4:30 pm. Each camp is $135.00. Camps will be held at 3010 Beard Road Medical Offices in Napa. Flyers are available in the school office. 12. The Scoop From Scrip: Are you planning on buying Marine World season passes this year? They are available at Albertson's and yes we have Scrip in $25 denominations. Stop by the school office and buy yours today.
    
    If you have a credit card with Sears/Orchard Supply you can pay with Scrip. It comes in $25 denominations.
    
    During the month of June Scrip will be available in the school office between 9:00 and 3:00. During the month of July, you may purchase Scrip in the school office on Tues. and Thurs. mornings from 9:00 AM - 12:00 noon. Should you need Scrip other than these times, please contact Renee Lloyd or Cindy Zeller at home.
13. From the Minister to Youth and Children:
    
    General Announcement: Coming to Napa on Sunday, June 5th, is the "Light the Fire" Tour. Five Christian Rock bands will be performing at the Napa Valley Expo starting at 4 pm. The bands that are scheduled to perform are: Skillet, Kutless, The OC Supertones, Roper and Number One Gun. The cost is $10 for advanced sales and $13 at the gate.     4th, 5th and 6th Graders: We meet this Sunday, May 29th, for our monthly T.G.I.S. activity. We'll meet in the gym from 1-3 pm to play lots of fun games. Make sure to wear your tennis shoes, as we will be outside as well. And don't forget to bring your friends! Hope to see you on Sunday!
