| From the Principal |

Dear Parents,
I would like to officially invite and encourage your attendance at our Back to School Night next Thursday,
September 9, at 7:00 PM. The evening will begin with a brief general assembly where we will share some
important information about what is going on. This includes information about Accreditation, our implementation
of the Young Peacemakers program, and APT news and information. You will then have a chance to visit
your childrens' classrooms. Please try to make it to this important event.
We are also having a New Parent Orientation Meeting at 6:15 PM just before Back to School Night. The
purpose of this meeting is to share information with you on St. John's Lutheran Church and School, so
that you have a better understanding of how we operate and how we can serve your family.
I would ask all parents to help us in ensuring safe and efficient afternoon pick-up in our main parking lot.
Please follow the procedures as outlined in the Parent Handbook
This includes using the yellow lines for pedestrian traffic. If you have children in K-8, please pick them up
in the south parking lot. Also, please try not to block the marked walkway when you park your car.
May God bless you and your family with a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

| Hurricane Charley Relief Grant Challenge |
|
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
is issuing a challenge: Raise $2 million to assist those who survived the recent Hurricane Charley, and
they will add $1 million in additional support. Charley struck Florida on August 13, killing 20 and
causing upwards of $14 billion in damage. Millions of homes and churches were damaged or destroyed,
lengthy power outages caused food to spoil and become unusable, and many find themselves unemployed
after their workplaces closed down following the hurricane. The need is great!
If you are able and willing to make a donation, please make checks payable to Napa County Chapter of Thrivent Financial.
Write Hurricane on the memo line and bring it to the school office. If you have any questions,
please contact Teresa Schmid.

- Faith Chapel Mosaic Help!
Due to one family emergency after the next, I have gotten painfully little done with the
mosaic project for the Faith Chapel. I am now returning to school and I'd really like to see this project completed before winter.
I am asking for help from any of you out there who may be interested. Experience is not necessary. Honest!! If you can do a jigsaw
puzzle, you can help with this!!
I will be at home in my shop from 10-3 every Tuesday and Thursday beginning on August 31st until it's done. Please call
me at 255-6996 or 337-2663 if you can be part of this project in any way. I will welcome any amount of time you can offer.
| Thank you, |
